Mountain Helicopters, such a fantastic experience.

Theresa in the office is super friendly and helpful. They are realistic about when you can fly. And they were adaptable to weather conditions so you get the best tour. Michael the pilot is brilliant at talking you through the ride and what you are seeing. First time I’d been in a helicopter, so small 4 seater bubble helicopter was a bit of a shock. But honestly the BEST experience! Flew over Fox Glacier and up to Mount Tasmin and Mount Cook. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

This was by far the highlight of our trip to New Zealand!

It was absolutely incredible! My wife and I were driving through the South Island in a camper van without any real agenda. We saw signs in Franz Josef for scenic helicopter rides and glacier landings and decided to check it out. James at the kiosk was very friendly and helpful. We decided to do the best (and most expensive) option they offered, which included both the Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, a flight around Mt Cook, and a glacier landing! Unfortunately, rain and weather rolled in, preventing us from flying over to Mt Cook. This was somewhat disappointing to us, although the flight was amazing, and Nathan the pilot was very personal and informative. We decided to ask if there was any chance of a refund, due to the fact that we were unable to see Mt Cook. We spoke to Therese on the phone, who was very understanding, and asked if we would come to their main office in Fox. We met Therese who gave us the option of a partial refund, or another flight, with no guarantee of seeing cook. We opted to take another flight and chance seeing Cook. As we waited in the office, they let us charge our phones and camera, and Ella the receptionist gave us tons of tips and suggestions for the rest of our trip. Finally, we boarded our second flight, which was unbelievably breathtaking! The sun was beginning to go down, making the views absolutely epic! And the weather had cleared enough for us to have spectacular views of the mountains, glaciers, and even a glimpse of Mt Cook among the clouds! It was one of the most incredible experiences of our lives! We can't recommend enough that you book a flight with Mountain Helicopters! Great experience and wonderful people and customer service!

We paid for the 20 minute ride last week with ‘Mountain Helicopters’ at $229 per person.

We were very uncertain whether paying an extra $330 for another 10 minutes would be worth it and unfortunately it wasn’t. We wish we had of just paid $119 pp for 10 minutes...

We regret spending the extra $$$$ very much. The girl at front desk was lovely and the pilots wife was lovely but it went downhill from there.

As we approached the helicopter we were all thinking the same thing..’please don’t let that be the helicopter we are going up in’ as it looked like something off the Ark.

Needless to say it was the one we went up in....

It was lovely seeing the glaciers but certainly wasn’t as amazing as we thought it would be. We got just as nice a view from the snow fields we were at the day before. The pilot hardly spoke to us and seemed very rushed/preoccupied. The flight wasn’t the full time (we know it was cut short by 4 minutes as 2 of us timed it) and there was hardly any commentary at all. My husband remarked to me when we landed ‘weren’t we suppose to see more than that?? I know 4 minutes to lose doesn’t seem like much but it is over only 20 minutes.

Once back at the hanger we were left in the chopper whilst it cooled down and we watched the pilot racing around pulling another chopper out of the hanger and filling it up with fuel and then off he went. When we asked his wife about it she said he was going to pick up hikers. That explained why he seemed in a rush the whole flight and seemed preoccupied. We mentioned to her the flight was cut short and she said ‘only by a minute’. We will have to agree to disagree on that one!!!

If I had my time again I would have only booked the 10 minute flight and I would have asked to see the helicopter prior to booking as the one on their advertising material isn’t the same archaic machine we went up in.

Astounding!!

We(my wife & I) flew with Michael in a Squirrel Helicopter from Fox Glacier, climbed over the Franz Josef then dropped into the Tasman Glacier where we landed for a walk around and some pictures with the helicopter and selfies with Mt Cook.

We then flew down the Tasman Glacier for a closer look at Mt Cook before flying down the Fox Glacier back to where we started.

Amazing views all the way. There had been a light dusting of snow at high altitude the night before our flight and Michael explained the fresh snow crystals enhanced the view!!

A fourty minute flight on the brochure but we were away longer.

Thank You to the crew at Mountain Helicopters for a superb scenic tour.

We had to wait around for an hour or so for another couple to join before our flight could proceed but we that was time well spent as it turned out.

You need a higher score than ten for this one, we did the 40min flight with Nathan and it is without doubt the best thing we have ever done - brilliant, scenic, breath taking and value for money.

Commentary was excellent, snow landing wonderful and Nathan was happy to take photos of all of us to remember this experience. Can't recommend this company, tour, and pilot more highly, didn't just want to take our money, wanted us to have a memory that will last forever even having us delay until the best moment to see everything this area has to offer. Just amazing if you're going to do a helicopter flight choose this company you wont be disappointed.

This flight up the fox glacier and on to Mt.

Cook exceeded all our expectations. The pilot was amazing and very professional, when we come back for our next trip to NZ we must do this again. Well done and we highly recommend you and your team. Regards Ian & Sheila
