It has got exhibitions and information on many different subjects, like the flora and fauna of NZ, Maori Culture and history.
The Antarctic expeditions and even an Egyptian mummy. Recommendable, but not 'the must see'. If you have got free time to fill, it is a good option.

It tells you a lot about different types of art, the lifestyle in Christchurch and New Zealand and the Maori!
But it is so much you cannot get all the information and you get lost. But it is for free and there are some interesting things.

We joined a Red Zone bus tour that was guided by Lorraine (?) from the Museum.
The damage from the earthquake is very difficult to comprehend but Lorraine, shared both her own personal experiences and those of the local community in a very compassionate and professional way. It was very difficult not be emotional by the experience but we would recommend this tour to any visitor to Christchurch
