    Charged a lot more than quoted and didn't provide support when collecting the car.

    We hired a car from Hertz at the beginning of 2023.

    We are back in our home country and 5 months later we have 2 mysterious charges from Hertz. One for $106.76 and one for $1,048.72. We called our credit card company and they said someone physically typed in our credit card information at the airport all these months later. We have disputed it and cancelled all our cards and ordered new ones. I would not trust this company with your credit card information. Someone is leaking credit card information at that company and using it to rent cars at a later date. You cannot trust this company with your personal information. They are fraudsters. Beware!

    Staff are nice, Got charged for "extras" ie GST when already quoted.

    They are called Hertz cos when you get the bill it hertz

    If I could give this a zero I would.

    I booked a car as my car had broken down and the mechanic couldn't get to it for 4 days. Hertz informed me I could get a full refund if I brought the car back early. The mechanic managed to sort my car within the first day so I took the rental straight back after only using it for one trip to town. Then was informed there would be no refund for the remaining 3 days. Beware people. Also, that 1 x 4km trip cost me $20 in fuel as it was clearly not even topped right up when I received it. So useless. I will never use this company ever again. Wish I'd read the reviews prior to using them. Clearly there is an ongoing theme here!

    We booked a car online on Friday night for 10.30am pick up at Wellington airport.

    When we got to the counter they told us there was a 40 minute wait till there was an available car. We had to be in Wellington for a ceremony at a specific time and could not wait. We were very disappointed and inconvenienced, and had to resort to an expensive taxi ride.

    The first one we had in the North Island worth a 10, but the second one we got in the South Island is a bit small for three people, but it is in good shape.

    Friendly, welcoming member of staff at Nelson Airport, clean vehicle that performed well on unsealed roads at steep gradients.

    Not cheap - would have chosen another company (and did) when hiring a car from Auckland where more choice/competition.

    Hertz at Auckland airport price gauged and charged us nearly $300 over our original price, cancelled our reservation without permission and nearly left my husband who is an essential worker stranded and

    without a way to get to work, charged him twice for one day of rental and still haven't refunded the wrongful charge after 6 days. They wouldn't give us proof it would be refunded, refused to even bother trying and locked the door on us when we tried to go back in the building to discuss proof of refund further. In a time where the entire world is on lockdown during a pandemic you would think people would try show even a shred of decency, but apparently that's not possible for Hertz. You're disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

    I am a hertz platinum member.

    I recently travelled to New Zealand and made a reservation to pick up a car for ten days at auckland international airport. In making the booking I declined insurance excess coverage. My booking confirmation shows this. After arriving after a 14 hour flight travelling alone with a two year old I went to the hertz counter. I was asked if I wanted the coverage and I again declined - this time verbally. Then I was handed the keys and a contract to sign. I didn’t read the small print. The agent had indicated I accepted the coverage - I did not. I was charged over 300 dollars for coverage I had twice declined - online and verbally. Hertz are saying they will not refund because I signed the contract. This is clear bait and artichoke and unethical and basically fraud

    Sadly I can't give a 0 star rating.

    Got to the airport only to wait in a long queue for close to 2 hours because there was only 1 staff member and when I reached the counter my car there was no car ready for me and they couldnt even tell me what car was available. Then had to wait another half an hour before a car finally arrived for us. Just avoid them full stop.

    We are from Switzerland We were able to rent from thrifty and other agencies without issues Hertz in rotors insisted on getting our driver license translated It has 7 items When shown the official

    Swiss administration translation they still insisted on a translation

    No insurance or zero excess options offered when we were provided a hire car after being crashed into on holiday.

    No walk around of the car done either, just a $590 deduction off my credit card due to a nick the size of a tiny stone which was probably there all along. Took a month to get a response about it just for them to say to refer to the terms and conditions.

    Don't rent hertz - they take a bond and make money on it while you have to wait up to 7 days to get it back !!

    Terrible experience!

    Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I arrived to collect my rental vehicle with a temporary replacement drivers licence and my passport for photo ID. They wouldn't accept the replacement licence. I was told it was company policy, but then found out that was false when I asked to read the policy. I asked to speak with the manager over the phone and he told me it was absolutely fine to hire a vehicle with a replacement licence, but when the phone call ended the man serving me overrode his manager's decision! The worst part was the manner with which this man treated me; he raised his voice and delivered the most appalling customer service I have yet to experience. Avoid Hertz at all costs.

    Its one of the most expensive rentals in nz and so NOT worth it!

    They are very particular about the bond money when we rent a car but not at all bothered to return the money afterwards. Our money amounting to almost 20,000 Indian rupees is still with hertz even after the promised stipulated time..and all I get is a lame email.

    This is not the first time it has happened. It has happened to a friend previously but I overlooked it thinking hertz is a reputed company and it won't happen to us... well...I was wrong.
