They didn't show despite me booking and pre-paying NZD$120 for a private surf lesson.

I had been super excited for the chance to get a lesson for improving while back home in Dunedin, and even asked if I could get another lesson since they didn't show initially. They then didn't respond for four days, and even then only a text message saying 'sorry' (that's it). In the end I had to make a dispute with the bank to chase for refund, which I did eventually get. Would not recommend. A real shame, they are the only surf school in Dunedin and some people have reviewed them well for their teaching. I regret not checking Google Reviews first though, as apparently this is not the first time they have not shown for private lessons. I would hope they would be much better at running their business.

This was my first time surfing, and I'm so glad I went through Esplanade Surf School in Dunedin.

The instruction was very relaxed, yet encouraging. And you just can't beat their prices. I think this small, independent operation could rival many professional ones.
