Our entire experience with Tui Campers was first rate.

From pick up to drop off was an absolute dream. We booked an older van (624000Klm on the clock) that ran like clockwork. Fittings were as expected on a van of this vintage and functioned perfectly. Auckland Base staff were extremely pleasant and easy to deal with. Manager drove us to our hotel in his vehicle following drop off, we considered this to be above and beyond what was expected. Well done Tui Campers.

We had a very good experience with Tui Campers.

With more than 3,800 km in 2 weeks, the camper never gave us any problems. There's enough space inside for 2 people and it's quite clean. Also, the staff is very friendly and we appreciated the warm welcome in Auckland for the check in and the warm goodbye in Christchurch!

I've been on a few campervan trips before, and I have to say, they're a blast.

Tui was such good value, the campervan was perfect to go wherever you want, whenever you want, is unbeatable. You don't have to worry about finding a hotel or restaurant - everything you need is right there with you. It's definitely a unique experience that's worth trying at least once.

    Tui campers were fantastic.

Great service from the courtesy pick up at Christchurch airport, the reception service ad overview of the camper coupled with some great travel tips and locations to visit. The camper was reliable, clean and comfortable with only small hitch when it lost power. However, stopped on roadside and called them and got fantastic support to get us back up and running. Easy to set up and pull down between holiday parks and the drop off reception was so good, efficient and friendly. Can't recommend Tui campers high enough, we were 3 adults and got the 4+1 hightop, very comfortable and spacious.

I should have listened to the negative reviews regarding customer service.

The van drove fine. Nothing unsafe but there were definitely service failures. The USB charger on the passenger side did not work at all. The cigarette lighter USB charger was broken before we left the lot, they replaced it and that one broke too. We had to buy a new one on the road. The WIFI device never held a charge and was useless (Tui refused to refund). The biggest problem was one of the automatic side doors: it wouldn't shut properly. 9 out of 10 times we needed to go out and push it shut. Over night it meant that if you had to go out for any reason the person on that side needed to climb over the other person to get in and out of the camper.

After multiple emails Tui's response? basically that they run an older fleet and that's how they keep costs down. That's it nothing more. Too bad.

Yup, I won't be using them for my next trip.

Corrie and I hired one of your campers on the 8th July.

    Hi,

We advised you on our arrival time and was told to call when we land and someone will pick us up from the airport back to your site.

Well Corrie did that and was advised you were shut and you said that you had emailed Corrie to advise that, well we were on the plane so did not receive the email, our plane was late, we arrived at 2.30pm which was no fault of our own, and you guys could not wait for us and said the keys are in the lockbox. Well that was not a great start to our holiday.

So we did not get any tutorial on how all the camper bits worked. This was our first camper holiday so we were not happy.

When we opened the rear of the camper all the extras were just thrown in on the floor was untidy.

Next issue was we had no gas in the cylinder!! No sheets we could not believe it, who comes from overseas to hire a camper and brings sheets ??

When we parked up and attached the awning there was only one pole that was the correct height, the others were too tall and too short so we could not use the awning, we advised you of this so we had to go to bunnings to pick some up that you organised to pay for. So we wasted our holiday time picking up new poles.

The other problems we had is one night it was raining and the awning leaked and so did the van so the end of the bed got wet the rain was leaking through the window above the stove.

So we were extremely dissatisfied and angry that this happened to us, when we returned the van we mentioned all this and the Manager at the time said we would receive an email regarding these issues and yet we have heard nothing.

Customer service was not good. We paid a lot of money for this camper and really should have been sent to the wreckers. The van was not up to standard and we should be compensated accordingly.

We will probably never rent from you guys again.

Unfriendly, should have given zero stars.

The staff was only interested in the administrational stuff. When the signatures were through and they managed to talk you into an additional insurance, you get the feeling to disturb their coffee routines.

Good news: the 2008 Freedom campervan had over 340,000 miles and ran without a mechanical problem for the entire 22 day trip.

    Disappointing news:

    1. Cosmetically, the van was not well maintained or cleaned. Someone else's clothes was behind the seat; dirt and dust around the sides of the microwave; rust and crud on and the refrigerator and the refrigerator tray; broken snap; and rust on the outside of the van are somme examples.

    2. Propane burner did not work.

    3. Another campervan notified me a brake light was out. I had to find a garage to fix it.

    4. Customer service was also lacking:

    > During check-out, I was directed to YouTube to see how to work everything. YT results lacked any useful information.

    > The GPS that was included in my rental was, as told by office staff, out of date and not much use.

    > Email stated I would be reimbursed for brake light repair when I returned the campervan. However, no one was at the office when I returned at my scheduled time.

    > When I wrote to management about these issues, excuses were provided and no accountability was taken.

    Recommend to a friend? No

    Just the worst!

I was charged $100 for being a half hour late to theor apparentl pick up time of 3:30. try getting to the airport across town after a working day in Auckland! The thing I ended up with cost me $500 for 3 nights, absolutely not worth it.

The layout was the worst I’ve ever seen by some margin. Want to sleep? Sure but now you cant access the fridge or the toilet. You also have to fold the kitchen down completely and put stuff heck if I know where. No charging ports, no front cabin curtains, No storage anywhere. Want to cook? Sure, but now you cant access the kitchen are anymore as the cooker pulls out IN FRONT of the kitchen bench. The child lock was on for both back doors, so that was fun to find out. I’ve seen many campervan layouts and never have I seen anything done this poorely thought out and ill advised. Why even have a toilet if it cant be used? Also, absolutely everything has to come off the bed so it can fold out, I had to put mattress, bedding etc on wet grass cos there was literally nowhere else to put it. Just ahve the bed panle slide out so it can easily be converted into a bed without having to take everything off due to a hinge in the middle. Just silly. Avoid! There are many better camper van rental companies out there. Also, they are nowhere near the airport iof you are flying in.

Our van broke down and when I went to Tui in Auckland to meet with Sherri and sort out the van and refund.

    Verbal abuse and accusations

I told Sherri that I had the receipt for the taxi, and she immediately lied to my face that they would only refund a day’s hire – less than the cost of the transport to Auckland. I balked at that and then the complete and utter abuse started. Examples (caps lock for underlining her anger and tone of voice): I KNOW WHAT I SAID – ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR! I WILL NOT TOLERATE THIS ABUSE (she was the abuser). I TRIED TO HELP YOU EVEN ON MY TIME OFF. YOU NEED TO SHOW ME APPRECIATION. And it went on and on, at the end I had to crawl and beg just to get a refund that would cover at least the transportation. She also accused me of not emptying the toilet block, however had done exactly that in the morning – ARE YOU CALLING ME A LIAR, SHERRI?!!!?!? (sarcasm may occur)

Stay away from these scam artists.

Cars are really crappy, shady terms and you get hit with tons of admin fees after returning vehicles

Camoervan had a ton of issues

    1. Air did not work

    2. Fridge never worked with vehicle off

    3. Radio flaky

    4. Gps not provided

Could go on and on but tldr do not do business with this company

Old vehicle which had two major water leaks.

Whenever it rained, it also rained on the bedding and our belongings. It took them 10 days to finally agree to change the van. Unresponsive manager, refusal to see the photos showing our ordeal and who ended up reimbursing us only for 3 days of rental out of the 10 spent underwater
