We just finished a 16 day tour in the 'Tangerine dream', a 1975 westfalia kombi.
We had an awesomw timw and cant reccomend Lyndon and Kiwi Kombis enough. The car was clean, smooth and reliable. It was a great experience to be able to drive in a vehicle with such character.
If you want to soak up your New Zealand experience and enjoy every second in and out of your van, this is the company for you.

We rented “The Red Sled” (please note, her name is now Lucy, NOT the Red Sled.
Lyndon will be uodating her identity shortly!) for 7 days to drive around the South Island. Literally the best trip I have taken, and in large part based on Lucy being our home, mother, best friend, and showstopper. We were local celebrities wherever we went with her charm and good looks! I learned how to drive a manual 3 days before renting her, and although it was tough to driver her, we managed super well. She really didn’t have any problems the entire time, apart from the steering wheel being on the wrong damn side (what kind of psychos drive on the wrong side of the road anyway?!). But seriously, no mishaps, apart from when I flooded the engine, and Lyndon was there within a couple of hours. This man is seemingly ubiquitous, and such a sweetheart. Always available when we had a question. I can not recommend Lyndon and his fleet highly enough. If you’re not driving one of these babies, you’re not doing it right. So much freedom, romance and magic when you’re with Lucy or her siblings. We will see you again some day soon, Lyndon & Lucy! Tata for now, and thank you for the trip of a lifetime!

We have rented a VW Bulli for 2 weeks to travel around at the South Island.
The pick up and handing over from Lyndon was great and every detail how to use the campervan was explained properly.
The VW Bulli was very reliabel and for an Oldtimer good in shape.
Lyndon was for questions always availabel on his cellphone.
We never want to miss the time in the VW Bulli on the South Island of New Zealand.

Our bulli made our vacation perfect!
The Bullis are very reliable and you don't have to worry about that you have a Problem with the car even it is on oldtimer. If you have any Problem, Lyndon is always easy to reach and very willing to help and really, really nice. But the bullis are well kept and very good in shape.
You get in contact with the new Zealanders easily, because everybody wants to know something about the bullis

Unfortunately the owner can't handle customer complaints.
Several issues occurred on this oldtimer. When asking for a refund he only denied a right for required refund. Instead of finding a compromise he called me extortionist and criminal. We payed more than $ 180 / day an expected a functioning and maintained vehicle. Manual brake, reverse gear indicator lights, navigation didn't work properly or were defective. Opening of one window wasn't possible either. Crockery was dirty, coffee stains in cups, etc. Handing over from wife was rather poor. I told him to make a statement at "Rankers". Now I'm a criminal, an extortionist, right?
I'm afraid he not a reliabable partner, I can't recommend this company at all.

Hired a 1958 VW Combi for a week of gentle exploring at the top of the north island, called Minty.
Really well equipped, for a van of that size and esp. age! Fun to drive and fabulous fun to be had pretending it's yours as passers by smile and wave! Worth every penny.

Great to drive, fantastic way to see NZ. Kiwi Kombis are relaxed and reliable, answering any questions you may have. They bring and pickup the van to location of you choice, Auckland or in Christchurch.

Best experience ever, we had a T1 from 1958 called Minty, the best car I've ever seen, in 15 days we had not one problem with the van.
We were unlucky with the weather, having had a lot of rain, but Minty stayed dry inside all the time.
Very relaxed and friendly owner, you can't compare this company to the big companies, which are often unfriendly, strict and not flexible at all.
Prices are fair, cars and equipment are in an excellent condition.
It's a unique kind of travelling, which you will never forget in your whole life...

Gorgeous vans which are not available easily (only found 1 other company doing original VW campervans) but more staff needed.
Had problems with the first van and although it was replaced we lost out on 2 days of our trip. Excuses were made.
