  • I travelled with Intercity/Great Sights 9 times in 2 weeks and had no problems at all.

The bus was always on time. The bus drivers were ALL super friendly, understanding and courteous.

There are USB slots on the bus.

    I always had enough space.

I was particularly surprised that it's not just a bus journey, but also a little sight-seeing tour. The bus drivers tell you a lot about the landscapes and places (if you don't want to listen to this, put your headphones in) and the bus stops at many well-known places. I wish I'd known that earlier.

The Flexipass was a great solution for my trip. Thank you.

  • I felt I had to give a review after my recent experience on the Christchurch to Picton service.

A very good service overall but what impressed me the most was the care of the driver. As it was evening and dark, he was very particular in making sure that his passengers, especially females that were travelling alone, were dropped off in a safe environment. As an older female I very much appreciated it as I am sure the younger female did too. Thank you.

  • InterCity review - my friend and I had a terrible experience with this company.

We had booked the Hobbiton and Te Puia tour with InterCity and GreatSights. The Hobbiton tour, while an hour late of the three seperate arrival times we were given, was fine, and then we were dropped off at the tourism office to wait for our next shuttle to Te Puia. We had not received any instructions on who was picking us up or what we were supposed to do, but we were there half an hour early, 15mns earlier than instructed. At 15 minutes past the pick up time, we were starting to get concerned, as no one had called our names or indicated they were waiting to pick anyone up. At one point I went and asked a woman sitting in a bus if she was with GreatSights and she said no. After waiting a hour, I borrowed a stranger's phone and called the tour office. I was told that the bus had been there and had left after 10 minutes. It turned out, it was the lady I had spoken to but, for some reason, she didn't know who she was picking up or which company they were affiliated with, incredibly unsafe for travelers to say the least. So, through no fault of our own, we missed the tour and are out quite a large sum of money as we have been refused a refund. The communication was very much lacking for both tours. It seems to me that all this company wants to do is fill their large busses with as many people possible and collect the money. It feels like the customer experience and safety is quite low on their list of priorities. However, the good news is, there are a lot of other great tour companies in New Zealand which we had amazing experiences with, and they all give the same tours! I would try Get Your Guide, Viator or Flexitours, all very professional and knowledgeable.

  • Intercity overbooked bus from Auckland to Whangerei and bypassed Akoranga North Shore bus station without picking up any passengers.

    Completely crap service

No notice was given and 15 minutes after departure, I called Intercity, who explained overbooking and that they would send a taxi.

Repeated calls to Intercity call centre had same answer "taxi on way" but they had no details of taxi service, or vehicle number, so absolutely no help.

One hour later still no taxi, so I gave up.

  • I travelled to Hamilton by intercity bus on the 11th March returning the 14th and had the most helpful driver called Jesse.

I am an elderly lady with walking difficulties and he helped me on and off the bus (the steps are rather high) and when the bus was diverted due to an accident at the taupo stop it was too far for me to carry on so rang my daughter who came to pick me up, she lives in Taupo and drove me home the next day. the driver made sure I was picked up and not left stranded, I was greatly impressed, please thank him for me . would definitely travel inter city again.

  • I travelled to Auckland via Intercity on the 1.3.20 (from Westshore, Napier), returning to the (Westshore, Napier) on the evening of 8.3.20.

I was very impressed with the Bus Driver (Ngaio), who was bright and very helpful all the way through to Manukau where we changed Drivers.

Ngaio kept us fully informed along the way with her bright and efficient manner, and was very clear and concise with instructions.

I felt Ngaio really built your Intercity Service up and I was impressed.

When we changed Drivers at Manukau, the Driver failed to introduce himself and no other information (ie when we would be likely to arrive in Auckland as we were running late. Even no mention of the importance of wearing seat belts). The Driver just got into his Drivers seat and off we went. He did however inform the passengers of the approaching stops from Manukau and was nicely spoken.

On the return journey from Auckland Central , I experienced very much the same.

When we stopped at Manukau, another Driver came on board.

His name was Jamie and he was excellent, with introducing himself and informed the passengers about wearing the seat belts provided.

He gave really good instructions, was very bright and friendly and again was very helpful to the passengers.

I felt both Jamie and Ngaio were an asset to your Organisation.

I am making these comments, not to be critical but to encourage your Organisation.

It is a very good service. Thank you very much.

  • This frist bus was not a gold bus I gave that a 2/10.

The second bus was a Gold bus 9/10

The bus from Rotorua to Wellington was not in fact in my favour the driver from Rotorua to Taupo was awsume, but from Taupo to Wellington, some road raging and when my dad 80+ years old needed to go to the public toilet, the driver did wait but had to talk to the passagers about how the bus was running late. I told him to stick it and keep his option to himself.

We caught the gold bus on the way back from Wellington to Rotorua, we had to give the gold seats up cause they were up the top and my dad cant walk stairs, lucky the bus wasn't full, we had 2 seats to our selves all the way to Rotorua. The driver was amazing he even let the passagers have time to use the public toilets and even picking some of the passagers up outside the public toilets cause they were elders. That's what I call services thanks to the driver(dont know his name) it was on the 2/12/18 from Wellington to Rotorua 07:45 thank you very much and merry xmas

  • Friendly and polite drivers, clean and comfortable buses, website is easy to navigate.

A negative point is that some services are not very direct however, they do offer express services. I do also agree that there should be washrooms on buses, especially on the Auckland to Wellington service.

  • Had a booking two weeks in advance that was cancelled just over 24hrs before my bus.

Wish I could give them 0 stars,

I’m saying 24hrs but that’s only because my bus was at 5:30pm and they cancelled 3:30pm the day before - it’s more like less than 24hrs before most other options for travel. This bus was to get me to the airport to catch my flight home to Canada. Called them to try and figure it out, they wouldn’t tell me why the bus was cancelled, they didn’t seem to care that there were almost 0 other options for me to make it back to the airport, and they couldn’t put me in contact with any of the bus companies that they hire from. I eventually spoke to someone who told me that even if I did contact the bus companies I would just be calling the same call center, even though I was told that the bus company were the ones who cancelled which doesn’t make any sense. The only other available option is a bus 40$ more expensive per person (we are 2) and they wouldn’t provide any extra compensation even though they are clearly not paying a bus driver or bus company for that day.

They didn’t even have any recommendations or options for other possible busses, like at least be ready to help people find another way if you’re going to cancel their bus on such short notice

Very disappointing service, not very pleasant to deal with, and extremely inconsiderate.

Book first with any other alternative PLEASE!

  • if I could give a 0 I would, I travelled from Auckland to Ruakaka and Ruakaka to Auckland, all booked through their website which stated this was all possible.

The first bus was half an hour late, the second bus I got a message a day before my trip saying they could no longer pick me up from Ruakaka. Stated there was roadworks, but no roadworks in sight! I had been dropped off there less than 12 hours earlier with no issues. I was then waiting on the phone for half an hour to speak to them, the operator knew nothing and the only option for me was to drive an extra 40 minutes outside of my way to get to a city in the opposite direction to where I needed to go to catch the bus at the earlier time. Absolutely ridiculous.
