I was fortunate enough to journey with the founding family in the lead up to opening Wai ariki in July 2005.

What a joy!!! The animals, local NZ artist work, serenity, atmosphere, service, food... amazing! Something for everyone - old to young, without a doubt. A fabulous family business with good old fashion hospitality. I've been back to visit several times since and love spending time at the farm; feeding the animals or soaking up the afternoon sun on the deck. Glorious!!

    Great place for young families.

Our three kids (ages 2-10) all had a blast with the hands-on animal petting areas and opportunities to get up close to feed them. The added bonus was that we could supervise while we relaxed with coffee and yummy food on the sunny deck. Just a fabulous place to visit. Would highly recommend!

This is the best place to visit while in Hanmer Springs, my family and I visit every time we are up from Christchurch.

We have 2 young children and they love handfeeding the animals, especially the Lamas, and seeing what is new. Very safe place for kids to interact with the animals and my husband and I can watch from the covered deck while enjoying the great coffee and food. I also love checking out what is new in the gift/craft shop, which as funky jewellery and trendy clothes, and material.

Tim and Grace are great hosts and you won't regret spending here.

Rude and insulting owner during off hours - spotted visitors with small kids behind the fence and started yelling and insulting.

Such experience poisoned our impression of New Zealand
