Mount Hutt admin staff are the worst.
I was advised in writing that there would be half day sessions for children for $119. I planned my trip budget around this information. I tried for over a month to book my sessions in and followed up numerous times only to be advised that the information given to me was incorrect. I planned my flights and accom based on the information they gave me, I would have booked elsewhere if they had given me the accurate information but now I am stuck on this mountain. Despite the fact that they know they are wrong, the Head of Customer Service, Ceri, has refused to honour the price quoted to me or come up with options that suit mu family. In fact her service is so poor that I need to follow up multiple times per day to even get correct information as their website is riddled with wrong information. I’m still waiting for Ceri to reply to my latest email.
I've always loved going to Mt Hutt and the staff on the actual mountain are fabulous, unfortunately the shocking website with incorrect information and staff members like Ceri who cannot think outside the box and provide quality customer service ruin it for everyone.
I certainly don't recommend this mountain for
families.

Went there in August, you can rent all the equipment from them.
Great views, they also have jumps and places to practise your skills. Good snow.

Nice lodge and ski field.
Can be very busy so learners going on the larger slops can get intimidated.

Best organisation and customer service in New Zealand.
Good snow and a long ski season. Tricky access road, depending on conditions.

Brilliant!
For a family of 6, including 4 children who had never skied before Mount Hutt was perfect. Weather variable, from sunshine to snow, wind and heavy cloud. With three days only to ski, we opted for a private 1 hour lesson each morning. The instructors were very experienced, positive and encouraging. By day 3, all 4 children (ages 14 down to 6 years) were ski-ing on easy intermediate runs and well and truly hooked!! Lovely wide, varied long runs. We all want to go back.

Unfortunately, I am used to northern hemishpere ski resort development & thus feel there is a huge gap to be filled.

We had an AWESOME 2 days skiing and our package (from Alpine Expeditions) was great value.
Beautiful powder on the first day, and a gorgeous mountain. Great weather too - hurrah! Not too busy either. HOWEVER there was only one beginner run AND the signage was pretty poor so we got stuck on an icy mountainside sliding down on our butts. But apart from that it was ace :-D
