Cool place for one night, although there is no toilet.
You can find one 100m down the street. The campsite is 200m away from the warf where you can find many different boat trips through the Bay of Islands. The campground Manager was really friendly and helped us with our car, because our batterie ran too low to start the car by itself.

Clean and nice place near the beach and town center.
Toilets and drinking water are just a one minute walk away. And the owner was super nice and helpful when we had problems with our car in the morning. Overall a great place to stay!

My partner and I ended up in Bay of Islands while touring the North Island and we looked around for a secure site.
Paying $28 for a site within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants and toilets was perfect. Other options around the area were $45 for a powered or non powered site! Cannot recommend staying here enough! Easy booking too using the Rankers app.

$33for a night (no facilities) pretty steep; but probably still one of the cheaper options in the area.
Did see people free camping at the bridge on the way into town

Great find, first thoughts was that it's small as most campers tend to park at the front, but plenty of space at the rear on the grass which we preferred, especially the kids.
Perfect location and a gem. Would have stayed for 2 nights but needed to empty etc. Just read that you can pay to use the dump station at Waitangi Camp Site, wish I'd read that and stayed longer. Will be back.

It’s a POP so you can’t expect too much.
Good grassed flat sites and very handy to the beach and shopping area.

The man who runs this place is extremely rude.
He made us move so he could “fit bigger vans in” and made us squeeze in between 2 already parked vans so despite all 3 of us having paid the full amount none of us got a full pitch. We agreed at first because he said there was another pitch for us but these were all on a hill so wouldn’t work. He later even said to my partner “this was I can pack more vans in and make more money” … not sure who he thought he was talking to but as a person being packed in and ripped off we were not his target market for that comment. No facilities at all just a car park, if you’re going to pay for something pay for the real camp ground round the corner- it’s much more worth the money.

Avoid.
At best a car park by the main road, no facilities, but you’ll pay $30 for the privilege of camping there. We received a nasty visit from the campsite owner in the morning, aggressively making false accusations of us, claiming he’d caught us on a camera and being very rude. An unwelcome start to our trip in New Zealand!

What a site this is.
Right across the road from the beach in the centre of town. Shops, restaurants, bars and ferry to Russel all within walking distance. Price unbeatable and so easy to pay online. We'll be back.
