Haast River Safari

Haast River Safari offers visitors a rare opportunity to experience the untouched natural beauty of Te Wāhipounamu, the South West World Heritage Area. Unique custom designed jet boats, provide comfort and safety levels well suited for all ages.

Haast River Safari trip showcases unique characteristics within the ancient glacier formed Haast River Valley, while the safari boat design ensures your warmth and comfort. A short bush walk leads you to the river's edge, where your boat is easily boarded by step-on front loading access.

In complete contrast to many jet boating activities focusing on speed and exhilaration, this is a leisurely, scenic and informative trip where the jet boat design is utilised as New Zealand inventor Bill Hamilton originally intended - "to explore the back countrÿ."

    Buyer be warned.

This company does not give refunds, even in the event of bad weather. We had a trip booked but could not get there because a major cyclone (hurricane) hit the west coast of New Zealand. We were told to evacuate the area. When we got phone service and called the owners to let them know, they were extremely rude and said that the weather was fine where they were and that the tour was going. They would not refund any of our hundreds of dollars. We were stunned that they expected us to drive into an area that every weather outlet was saying would be dangerous to enter at that time. Even worse, they made us feel like we were ridiculous for not driving over there during tumultuous storms. I'm sure this trip is worth doing--we were very excited--but you'd better hope you have good weather. Sadly, New Zealand weather is pretty unpredictable, so this booking is a gamble.

Hi, Apologies for the late response but we do not use Rankers for our reviews. I'm am sorry you had this experience but I think you may have the wrong company as we do not provide FIT tours, I think the company you are looking for is Waiatoto River Safari which is also located in Haast.

If you do ever decide to come down the West Coast at any stage give us a call and we would be more than happy to accommodate you on one of our tours :-)

Went there in winter, so we had a real individual trip (just our great guide and us).

Georgeous scenery, valuable information and very close to nature. Nothing for someone who is searching for a thrilling ride (though they do some spins) but highly recommendable for everyone who wants to explore real untouched nature. Loved it!

Not the frantic ride like in Queenstown.

Bryan stopped a couple of times an talked about the local environment. Had some great views of the valley. Did three spins at the end.
