Spend half a day here and spot Kiwi.
Fair pricing and big cages. Rescued animals and a hospital for injured animals. Fair and lovely.

Big cages, fair pricing and nice walks.
Great location and not too many animals (perfect for a few hours). Rescued wildlife animals and clinic. Good way to see Kiwi.

Was a lovely day.
The animal welfare standards look very good. Enclosures maintained to a very high standard. We got to see a Sun Bear fed as well as many different animals and a good entry fee.

I went here to see the Tuatara, NZ's little dragon.
Very impressive display and how they are helping these things survive. The maori people believe they can communicate with the gods! Worth a visit

The animals are kept in nice places and very friendly staff are always around to answer questions.

This is, for sure, the best little Zoo in the world!

You can see the Zoo is very serious about conservation and the animals. The enclosures were big and well kept and the animals looked happy.
You can plan your visit around the feeding times and talks.
I also did the Red Panda Close Encounter and it was AMAZING. Definitely one of the best experiences of my life.

This really is the best little zoo in the world.
There has been a huge investment here in recent years. The vet centre lets you view any surgical procedures they have on.
If you like talks, you can almost follow the experts round.

We didn't know anything about it before deciding to visit, we were not so sure when there was no car park for it and the signs limited.
We were pleasantly surprised, the zoo was very well kept with a large variety of animals to see including Kiwis. Worth a visit.

A fairly good zoo.
seeing kiwis was amazing! some of the cages were sad - they looked like prison cells - but the selection of animals was very good.

I really enjoyed the zoo.
I appreciated the natural setting of all the enclosures for the animals and the good mix of native and non-native animals was appreciated.

A wonderful zoo, especially for one in a good-sized city.
They have a great variety of animals, beautiful large enclosures, and great vantage points over the city. The cheeky "don't feed the animals" signs were also a plus. And, of course, there are kiwi birds! A must-see for non-New Zealanders.
