I arrived from Picton on my electric bike - very friendly owner let me camp for free in return for having a meal and then I charged the bike battery in the tavern.

The only mistake I made was to have one of his excellent beers before erecting my tent - should've done it the other way round as the beer was quite strong! Overall a great experience - unpretentious and highly recommended!

Since we were late and all Freedom Campgrounds were full in this area we were glad to find this cheap alternative nearby.

Friendly staff welcomed us sweet with the choice of paying 10 bucks for an unpowered site or stay for free by having diner at the tavern. Very good beer collection and a wonderful possibility to join New Zealanders smooth lifestyle. Thanks for having us

Allowed me to camp for free once I paid for a meal.

We travelled as a family (2 adults, 2 kids) and couldn’t find another place to stay in our self contained vehicle.

For 10$ you can camp on a parking spot or for free if you consume a meal. The caretaker was friendly and there was an all-night accessible toilet. However, the toilet far from clean, no hand wash soap and the basin was broken. The parking lot was very noisy and since the tavern seemed to be the only alcohol serving place within miles, there were a lot of drunk people shouting. Definitely not a highlight of NZ camping.

We went there because we couldn't find any free camping nearby.

It is a carpark of the Tavern.

The Keeper was friendly, showed us the toilet that was opened the whole night.

For a price of 10$ per car per night was it okay. Nothing special.
