Kumara Junction Cafe & Honey Centre

Camping with a Coffee!

This is a free responsible camping area for SELF-CONTAINED VEHICLES only

This camp site only exists because of the good will of the café manager so…..it would be great if campers could support this local business by purchasing a coffee etc from the Café.

This is private land and you can get good coffee in the morning!

The Cafe owner has been particularly helpful in setting up this site and it would be greatly appreciated if campers can support the business.

Great place to park up for the night, it is just a parking lot next to the cafe, there is a main road behind but honestly there isn’t heaps of traffic through the night and didn’t bother me at all!!

Lovely staff at the cafe, great coffee and the best blueberry muffin I’ve ever had, totally worth supporting them!

Big flat parking lot by the honey cafe.

No bathrooms, but lovely spot for a night. Close to a road so a bit noisy but definitely manageable. Cafe opened at 9 so we couldn't stop by :\

    Good park over place.

We are self contained but spotted people in non-SC vehicles using grass areas as toilets. Suggest removing info about toilets provided -as they are not now.

    So rude.

We were accused of mauling food in the food cabinet, when selecting wrapped sandwiches. Cabinet doors open at front towards customers. I said sorry, but didn't see any signs. She said again that we were grabbing food. Really unpleasant experience. Left without purchasing anything.

Flat gravel car park as described, no portaloos here anymore.

Cafe seems like it would be nice when open but a few suspicious cars around in the dark, moved on as we didn't feel safe. Still signs up that say you can camp even though toilets have been taken down.

It’s a car park on a main highway (aka it’s noisy with trucks at night) but it’s a great place to stop before or after the Arthur’s Pass.

Be sure to support local and grab a coffee before you hit the road in the morning

There’s a lot of space for campers, you don’t need to be there early.

No facilities, but a great café where you can get breakfast. You can also use their toilet and free WiFi if you buy breakfast. A bit noisy because of the road and not very cosy place in general. But great for a single night!

Big gravel car park. Just off a road but wasn't noisy. Pleanty of space when we turned up. Right next to a lovely cafe which we visited when it was open in the morning.

Great place for a free night’s stay.

It’s just a parking lot at a little coffee/honey store. Nothing special, but it doesn’t claim to be. The coffee shop opens fairly early in the morning, and they have fantastic coffee, bathrooms, WiFi, and honey (that I didn’t try).

It is a big carpark next to a cafe where you can stay overnight.

There aren't any facilities but for one or two nights it is just fine. Even though it is close to the highway it was not too noisy.

A big parking place for 20 campers without toilet.

At 8 am the Café is open. For $8 you get a coffee and a muffin, and can use the toilet of the Café. Good choice of breakfast, coffee, teas and honey from the producer.

    Had a nice stay there.
