Beautiful place.
Very tranquil, in the native forest. The caretakers are really nice people. One of my favorites. I’ll definitely back. $10 a head too!

Pretty barebones as of September 2023.
Peaceful and secluded with a clean toilet and a tank of drinking water. Easy-to-navigate parking spots flanked by picnic tables. The free wifi was highly appreciated. Overall good value for charge of $10 nightly per adult.
I was amused by a couple of weka hanging around the field after dark. They are fun to chase around 🏃

Very nice cozy campsite for 10$, no powered sites available, but it has wifi!
Owner comes around in the early evening, collects fee and hands out password. I saw in the reviews, that he does glowworm tours on his property and I highly recommend! For 10$ you get to know so much and even did a nice talk on stars!
Clean drop toilet with water for washing hands, no shower.

This was a great place to camp, I’d definitely go back.
I’m cycle touring with a tent. The ground (grass) was flat and it was easy to get pegs in.). There weren’t many bugs/insects. Plenty of food water and the toilet is OK - though there wasn’t any soap/hand sanitizer when I was there, which might have been nice!
The surroundings are nice to explore (Pancake Rocks etc are 3 miles up the road too), and you can hear the sea at night, but far enough from the road that traffic noise is not a problem. The owners were very nice and friendly - they even gave me some snacks (clearly I looked like I’d had a hard bike ride that day!).

Great campsite.
Beautiful spot. Very kind host with a lot of tips. Only thing: there were a lot of fly's in the toilet in the evening. A little bit dirty.

Beautiful campsite tucked amongst beautiful green vegetation.
The host Denise was extremely helpful and gave us lots and tips and recommendations! One of my favourites was the definitely the fish and chip shop and the river walk ☺️ the toilet facilities are clean and well maintained and there is also drinking water for guests. The picnic chairs next to the spots are a great touch too! Very peaceful spot! Highly recommend. We will be coming back again ☺️

Rustic place to stay after visiting the Pancake Rocks.
Toilets are really clean. Enough space and well maintained, a picknick table for every camper spot. The owners are really kind and give you the best tips about the surroundings.

Great little campsite with space for 9 vehicles.
Drop toilets, but very clean. Several cheeky weka around so watch they don't steal your dinner!
The owner did a tour to a glow worm dell for $10 and it was really good! I think he also does bird tours as he's involved in their conservation.

Lovely little camp site with 3 Weka friends as our neighbors.
Were told to keep flip flops in cause they like to drag them into the bush though. Perfect peaceful and safe feeling stop after a busy day in Paparoa National park. Toilet was clean, price is very reasonable!
Owner came by to pick up the fee and gave us a whole bunch of tips and ideas, really lovely to take her time!
Must stop if you’re not a big fan of the huge and perfect holiday parks and just want a nice place to sleep :)

Like the comments before me, this is a great place!
10 NZD pppn, and the glow worm tour is now 10 NZD as well, but so worth it! I learned lots about glow worms but also about the local flora and fauna. And I found the amount of sandflies quite mild compared to other places on the west coast, not a problem at all. Recommend!

Great campsite, lots of space and surrounded by pure nz bush.
Nikau, Kawakawa, and flax. Owners Denise and Bruce super friendly and accommodating. Lots of cute Weka roaming around, plentiful fat Kereru and Tui for the birdwatchers. Great experience , good price at 10 bucks per adult. Will be back
