Very bad experience due to a horrible cotumer service that misleading trampers.
They have a few options of Drop offs
In the makarora river.
So if you dont ask the specific point they will take you wherever they like without taking any responsibility.

Absolutely fantastic, probably my favourite day in NZ.
We did a heli-walk- jetboat trip. About 25 mins in the helicopter with some amazing sites and excellent flying, then a lovely walk through native trees and past great waterfalls down to the main valley, where you meet the jet boat for the ride back to base. You can easily tailor your own trip, get dropped off, camp, stay in DOC huts etc. Great staff.

One of the top days in our month in NZ - heli tour up the valley (just the two of us and the pilot, who was chatty and was happy to show us glaciers when he heard we'd particularly like to see them) then
a *beautiful* walk - only 3 hours including lunch and snack stops, but with decent up and down hill chunks so you feel like you've earned your dinner, and finally back down the river in the jet boat - amazing fun!

I had the luxury of flying into Siberia, hiking up to Lake crucible then walking out for about two hours to get picked up by Wilkin River Jets.
What a ride! The driver Danielle (I think) was wicked, so in control and floored it down the river. Great commentary along the way. I felt safe, and this was by far the fastest boat ride I have ever been on. Super impressed, the new boat was awesome.
