Overnight sea kayak to Doubtful Sound.
Had to supply own food. Good fun, well organised, informative, challenging but fine for a fit beginner. Was with a good bunch of people.

Kayaking in doubtful sound is stunning.
We went in October and the fresh snow made for a chilly but picturesque experience. The equipment was generally good and our guide Brad put in a lot of effort to ensure that we had the best trip possible. It's not cheap, but it's a very memorable thing to do and see in the fiords at water-level (as opposed to a bigger cruise boat) is even more special. There is a bit of confusion about the company- they are actually owned by Real Experiences, but continue to operate independently. Definitely recommended.

This company is horrible to deal with.
When we arrived for our trip we were separated into boats with very LARGE men, because the two guys couldn't paddle themselves. When I pulled the guide aside she told me that if we changed the set up the guys couldn't go on the trip. I spent all day hauling that huge man around the sound, didn't get any photos, and when I emailed regarding my unhappiness was told that I couldn't have been made happy anyway, since I had missed a discount by a day. They charged my bank card, which I asked them not to do from the beginning, then I was told the money for the trip would be refunded (due to the poor quality of the trip) and it never was. I would highly recommend choosing another company. There are many. Unless you like to pay to paddle a big weight around when you're on vacation, then you've found your company!

Wonderful experience on Milford Sound enhanced by knowledgeable, informative guide - and impressive rain!
The waterfalls were just more plentiful. Don't fear going out in the rain. Guide gave us confidence, made sure we were warm, safe and having fun. The equipment was first-class, safety instructions handled well. We are 55+, others in group 20's/30's. We want to repeat this experience with Fiordland, and maybe do Doubtful Sound next time, too.

Awesome 3 day kayak - very well organised, great fun, incredible surroundings - 3 lots of dolphins.
Expect lots of sandflies but it's part of the fun and they provide a brilliant bug shelter to make for a very comfortable evening.

Fabulous pristine wilderness, waterfalls and still water to paddle in, makes this a great trip. Overnight camping was very well organised with a bug proof living area for all. Tara, our guide was knowledgable and well organised. Once in a lifetime experience and a real adventure.
